I Will Sing of Jesus' Love
Words and music by Frank Edson Beldon, 1886 (1858-1945)
I will sing of Jesus’ love,
Sing of Him Who first loved me;
For He left bright worlds above,
And died on Calvary.
Refrain
I will sing of Jesus’ love,
Endless praise my heart shall give;
He has died that I might live—
I will sing His love for me.
O the depths of love divine!
Earth or Heav’n can never know
How that sins as dark as mine
Can be made as white as snow.
Refrain
I will sing of Jesus’ love,
Endless praise my heart shall give;
He has died that I might live—
I will sing His love for me.
Nothing good for Him I’ve done;
How could He such love bestow?
Lord, I own my heart is won,
Help me now my love to show.
Refrain
I will sing of Jesus’ love,
Endless praise my heart shall give;
He has died that I might live—
I will sing His love for me.
Frank Edson Beldon was born on March 21, 1858, at Battle Creek, Michigan. When he was eight years old, Belden’s family moved to California, where he first composed music. Due to breathing problems, Belden later moved to Colorado. He eventually returned to Battle Creek, Michigan, around age 30. He joined the Review and Herald Publishing Company, and stayed in Battle Creek until about 1910, when he began writing songs for evangelist Billy Sunday. Belden’s aunt was Ellen Harmon White, one of the pioneers of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Belden died on December 2nd, 1945, at Marshall, Michigan and is buried at Oak Hill Cemetery, Battle Creek, Michigan--the same cemetary as his aunt: Ellen G. White.
